Choose a few questions from what your child is learning — this week’s spelling, times tables, exam formulas, or three questions about this morning’s museum visit. Then agree on a short “questions first” routine: your child answers on their question page, and the sites they love open for the time you set.
On a Chrome computer, our free Chrome add-on brings the questions up automatically on the sites you’ve added. On other devices, your child opens their question page. It doesn’t control installed apps.
For home-educating families in Australia, Foundation to Year 12. Set up in about five minutes. 14-day free trial — no card required, nothing charged automatically.
Keep it short and familiar: a few questions before a site you’ve agreed on. Your child always sees the rule in plain words: “Answer 2 questions correctly to unlock YouTube for 20 minutes.”
A few questions, many times a week. This is retrieval practice — testing yourself on what you’re learning — a method with strong research support for building long-term memory (e.g. Roediger & Karpicke, 2006). Questions your child finds tricky come up again over the following days, so they keep practising what they’re learning.
You choose the questions and the sites. You can open any gated site straight away whenever it’s needed. And the weekly summary shows what’s been practised — a helpful nudge, not a report card.
Each child’s question screen matches their age, so a Year 1 gets fun and a Year 11 gets respect. One family account covers them all.
Bright, playful screens with our friendly mascot, big buttons and a burst of confetti for every right answer.
e.g. Counting, phonics, telling the time
Feels like levelling up in a game. Each question is a quick challenge with progress they can see.
e.g. Times tables, fractions, spelling, Australian history
Clean and calm, like the study apps they already respect. No cartoons and nothing babyish. Just fast, focused revision, then back to their game, music or group chat.
e.g. Exam formulas, chemistry, language vocab, key dates and quotes
Use one of 15 optional starter packs, or write your own in under a minute — times tables, spelling words, exam formulas, or anything your family is working on this week.
Add the sites your child loves — YouTube, Roblox, Netflix, or any site you choose — and choose how long each one opens for. Only the sites you add are part of the routine; school sites are never touched.
Your child opens their question page, answers a couple of quick questions, and the site opens for the time you set. If they get one wrong, they get a friendly “have another go” — no penalty, no lock-out, and tricky questions come back over the following days.
See how it works: add your child, pick some questions, choose a site, and watch your child answer to unlock it.
Choose a site to make part of the routine, e.g. YouTube.
Add or pick a few revision questions.
They open their saved question-page link (bookmark or home-screen shortcut).
A friendly quiz comes first. No scary “blocked” page.
The site opens for the time you set.
A simple weekly summary. Not surveillance.
Only the sites you add are gated. Ask your child which ones they love, then pause or remove any of them whenever you like.
All 15 packs are included in every plan and the free trial. They cover maths, English, spelling, science and Australian history from Year 1 to Year 12 — optional revision starting points written with the Australian Curriculum in mind, not a complete curriculum, and not linked to registration or reporting requirements. Edit any pack, or skip them and write all your own questions.
Every feature, every starter pack, no card to start, and nothing charged automatically. If you don't choose a plan, the trial simply ends.

AndWhat Home is a website, not an app, so there is nothing to install. You manage everything from the parent dashboard on your own phone or computer. On your child's device (a computer, Chromebook, iPad, tablet or phone), you save their question page as a bookmark or home-screen shortcut. Copy the link from the Sites page in your dashboard. Your child opens it, answers the questions, and the site opens for the time you've set. One parent account covers all your children.
About five minutes. Add your child by nickname, add a few questions (or tap a starter pack), add a website, and you’re done. Your dashboard walks you through each step and lets you try the question screen yourself.
Go to Questions → Add question. Type the question, pick multiple choice or a typed answer, and save. You can add a simple picture (like a fraction or a clock) and choose whether it’s for one child or the whole family.
No. All 15 starter packs are included in every plan and in the free trial: maths, English, spelling, science and Australian history, from Year 1 to Year 12. They’re optional starting points written with the Australian Curriculum in mind, and you can edit any of them.
Yes — you can write all your own questions, and the starter packs are optional. Went to the museum this morning? Add three questions about it and they become this afternoon’s ticket to YouTube.
They get a friendly “have another go” and can try again straight away. There’s no penalty and no lock-out. Questions they find tricky come back over the following days, so they keep practising what they’re learning.
School sites aren’t affected. AndWhat Home only asks questions for the sites you add (like YouTube or Roblox), and every other website works as normal. If your child needs one of their gated sites for a lesson, tap “Unlock now” on the Rules page, choose the child and how long, and their gated sites open straight away with no questions.
On a Chrome computer, add our free Chrome add-on from the Chrome Web Store and connect it with a code from your dashboard. The questions then come up automatically when your child opens a site you’ve added. On iPads, tablets and phones, the routine relies on your child opening their question page — it’s a family agreement, not an enforced block. For a harder line on any device, pair AndWhat Home with your device’s built-in parental controls, such as Google Family Link (which can also stop add-ons being removed) or Apple Screen Time.
No. AndWhat Home covers websites opened in a web browser. It isn’t a whole-of-internet filter and doesn’t control apps installed on a device.
Only a nickname and a year-level group (like “Years 4–7”). No birthdays, legal names or locations, and no browsing history. We store the site names you approve and your child’s quiz answers so your weekly summary works. You can export or delete everything at any time.
No. There’s no behavioural profiling, no ad targeting and no AI training on your family’s data. The app just follows your rules.
Those apps are built to manage access. AndWhat Home is built for learning — questions attached to what your family is actually learning this week. Because you pay us directly, we don’t need ads. Your subscription also pays for new question packs and for keeping everything working as browsers change.
Yes. Every new account gets 14 days with every feature switched on. No card is needed to start and nothing is charged automatically. If you don’t choose a plan, the trial simply ends.
Solo (A$15/month) covers one child profile. Family (A$30/month, or A$200 billed annually) covers up to three child profiles, and each child can have their own questions and sites.
Add extra children to a Family plan for a flat A$10/month (A$120/year on annual plans), however many you have. Tap “Add child” in your dashboard and turn it on in one step. It’s free during your trial.
No. Monthly plans are month-to-month. Cancel any time from Account & Billing. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for and won’t be charged again.
There’s no pause feature — but you can cancel anytime with no exit fee, and everything (profiles, sites, questions) stays in your account, so picking up again next term is quick. On monthly plans, cancelling stops future renewals and access runs to the end of the paid month. On annual plans, cancelling stops the next renewal; your paid year keeps running to the end. One note for founding families: the A$99/year founding rate is kept while your subscription stays active, so cancelling may mean returning at the standard rate.
Privacy isn't a checkbox for us. AndWhat Home is built to collect as little about your child as possible.
